- 1972 - The first Honda Civic is launched as a coupe and a station wagon. The prevailing oil crisis meant that the demand for fuel efficient cars was at its peak. The Civics’ success was due to the combination of its features and technology as well as its fuel saving ability!
- 1980- Encouraged by its success, Honda introduced a new look Civic which boasted more engine power, larger body style and a 3-speed automatic transmission.
- 1983 – The Sporty looking Civic makes its entrance. The ‘S’ model came equipped with a five speed manual transmission, special sports tires and a better suspension.
- 1984 – The third generation Civic – the 4-door ‘shuttle wagon’ - is unveiled to the public. The Civic Si also made its way into the Japanese markets, with the Si variant later launched in the US.
- 1987 – The 4WD Civic model, launched in 1984, is upgraded to keep up with the prevalent technology and customer needs.
- 1988 – The Civic undergoes another body transformation – lower hood lines and increased dimensions and fuel injection technology. Honda introduces the D series engine. The Civic is offered in a wide range of models across the world.
- 1992 – The fifth generation Civic with an aerodynamic styling is introduced.
- 1996 – Launch of the sixth generation Civic – with upgraded looks and two new variants, the ‘Orthia’ - sold in the Japanese market - and the ‘Domani based wagon’ which was offered in the European market. The newly upgraded Civic Si introduced for the North American buyer.
- 2001 – Honda comes out with its seventh generation Civic – with enhanced features including a new front suspension and a more powerful engine, all aimed at reducing costs and allowing better mileage. The Civic was offered as a Coupe and also as a Sedan in the US and Canadian markets.
- 2003 – Honda introduces the first Civic Hybrid.
- 2006 – Honda comes out with the eight generation Civic – 2 variants – one intended for the Japanese market and the other for the European and North American regions.
- 2010 – The present day Civic is a fine combination of performance, styling and technology, further strengthening the Honda legacy!

• 2010 Honda Civic
